Specialized have completely redesigned the standard Tarmac to create the S-Works Tarmac Disc 2018 that offers the same great aero performance with improved control. Crafted from Specialized's top draw 12r Carbon Fibre, there isn't a better raw material to start with, and with over half a decade of creating disc brake road bikes and decades of carbon layup expertise, Specialized know just where and how much material is needed in each zone. The result is a light frame that offers all the stiffness and comfort you expect from a Tarmac with the strength to endure the extra stresses of disc brakes. The only downside of this is an additional 290g over the entire bike weight! Geometry remains consistent with the Rim brake version and is derived from data from Retul for an accurate and comfortable fit in each frame size no matter your body type. Specialized's S-Works Tarmac Disc 2018 is true to the S-Works ethos of having the very best components possible, even if that means making them yourselves. For this disc version, Specialized have created all new Cranks to improve power transfer with two sided power measurement in the lightest, and most accurate package ever made at just 440g (172.5mm) and +/- 1% measurements. In addition to these new cranks, the S-Works Tarmac Disc features a full S-Works level finishing kit, and Roval CLX 50 Disc specific wheels with CeramicSpeed bearings. Shimano's new Dura-Ace Di2 9170/9150 components provide the ultimate shifting performance with no need for adjustments throughout the season. The biggest change to the S-Works Tarmac Disc is of course the disc brakes themselves. Shimano's Dura-Ace integrated hydraulic disc brakes ensure the best possible performance but they haven't just been bolted onto the rim model frame. Specialized have changed the aero profiles and mounting points of both the frame and fork to ensure the same great aero performance as the rim brake model, overcoming the challenges that disc brakes present.
